Release Engineer
Location: Waltham, MA or Atlanta, GA
The Release Engineer will be responsible for developing a strong understanding of company products, and how to apply our technology to solve the customer’s problems. You will work closely with company groups in creating and presenting a solution for a customer’s business problem and supporting the planning and execution of the implementation.
Responsible for managing the transition from development and test to production. Deliver clear, consistent communications to the all groups involved. The Release Engineer is exposed to the "time box" project management, which emphasizes honoring deliverable date commitments and providing a rapid return on the customer’s investment. The successful performer positively impacts the company by meeting or exceeding customer expectations for production support.
:: Essential Responsibilities:
- Directs the tactical operation support of Patch Management Applications in production.
- Supports the day-to-day operations for production applications.
- Works closely with various groups within the company (helpdesk, operations, product engineering, Data Base Admin, Client Services) to bring the company solutions to customer issues.
- Drives the rollout and deployment of new company technology in the following areas: Dev, QA, Staging, and Production.
- Manages the production application installation, setup, and support.
- Manages the metrics and reports the system performance to the VP of Software Operations.
- Participates in technology upgrades (Patch Management).
:: Requirements:
- Bachelors in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or other technical field or similar work experience
- 3-5 years work experience as a Release Engineer in a technical environment
- Strong experience with Visual Source Safe desired
- Proven experience with Software build scripting and automation
- Training and specific experience in C/C++, client/server, and SQL Database
- Exposure to DOT Net and internet technologies a plus
- Desire to work closely with IT OPS, Development and Product Engineering
- Aggressive, high energy self-starter with a desire to work in a dynamic start- up environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Extremely good organizational and time management skills
- Clear headed, decisive thinking, with ability to drive installations and issues to completion
- A willingness to work odd hours and many evenings.
